Three steps
Start or transfer service
- 01
See if we're in your area
We check whether Brightspeed Fiber or phone-line internet is offered at your new address and what it costs.
- 02
Pick your plan
Choose a speed for the new home. Moving is a good time to upgrade if fiber is available there.
- 03
We handle the rest
We book installation for move-in day and, for current customers, help close out service at the old address.

Tips for a smooth switch
Call 2 to 3 weeks ahead
Booking early gives you the widest choice of install dates at the new address.
Return old equipment
If you are leaving Brightspeed's area, return the router to avoid unreturned equipment charges.
Check the new address type
Fiber and DSL can differ street by street, so a move within the same town can still change your options.
Moving outside the 20 states?
We compare providers at your new home so you are not left without internet on move-in day.
FAQs
Moving with Brightspeed questions
Can I transfer Brightspeed to my new home?
If your new address is in a Brightspeed service area, yes. We check what is available there and schedule installation for move-in day.
How far ahead should I schedule?
Two to three weeks ahead is ideal, especially during summer and at the end of the month when moves are most common.
Will I keep the same price?
Not always. Plans and pricing depend on the new address. We show you the options and prices at the new home before you switch.
What if Brightspeed is not at my new address?
We compare the providers that do serve your new home and help you set up service, so you are not left offline.
Do I need to return my equipment?
If you are leaving Brightspeed, yes. Returning the router on time helps you avoid unreturned equipment charges.
Can I upgrade to fiber when I move?
Yes, if fiber is available at the new address. Moving is often the easiest time to upgrade from DSL to fiber.
Is there a fee to move service?
Installation charges may apply at the new address. We confirm any fee before you schedule.
Can I have service at both homes for a few days?
Yes. You can set the disconnect date at the old address after the install date at the new one so you have overlap.
Do new movers get the prepaid card?
New Brightspeed customers moving into a qualifying address may get the card offer. Existing customers transferring service usually do not.
What do I need to schedule a move?
Your new address, your preferred install date and, if you are a current customer, your account details. We take care of the rest.
