Kinetic Wi-Fi and security questions

What is Whole Home Wi-Fi Set Up?

It is Kinetic's free professional install, where a technician places your gateway, adds extenders if needed and connects every device so Wi-Fi reaches the rooms you use.

What eero devices does Kinetic use?

Kinetic offers eero 7 and eero Pro 7 Wi-Fi 7 gateways, plus eero extenders that form a mesh network across larger homes.

What is the difference between eero Secure and eero Plus?

eero Secure ($5/mo) adds threat blocking, parental controls and ad blocking. eero Plus ($10/mo) adds Guardian VPN, Malwarebytes for 3 devices and a 1Password password manager.

I do not have an eero. Can I still get Wi-Fi security?

Yes. Kinetic Secure works with other gateways and includes threat protection, parental controls, ID monitoring, a password vault and a privacy VPN.

What is AlwaysOn Wi-Fi?

It is an add-on for Kinetic Fiber customers with an eero. A small eero Signal device switches your Wi-Fi to a cellular backup during an internet outage, then back to fiber when service returns.

Does AlwaysOn Wi-Fi work during a power outage?

No. Your home, eero and backup device all need power. AlwaysOn covers internet outages, not power outages, and is not intended for 911 or medical use.

Is there a data limit on AlwaysOn backup?

Backup data is unlimited, but speeds may be reduced after 75GB of use in a calendar month.

Can I manage my Wi-Fi from my phone?

Yes. The Kinetic Wi-Fi Manager and eero apps let you see connected devices, pause access, set up guest networks and run speed tests.

Do Wi-Fi security add-ons need a contract?

No. eero Secure, eero Plus and Kinetic Secure are monthly add-ons you can cancel at any time.

Will extenders cost extra?

Extenders are included as needed on Max plans. On other plans, the technician will tell you whether an extender would help and what it costs.
